RE: November truck sales

The 09 Fords to me look cheap and with lots of plastic. Overall General Motors is kicking butt if there any butt kicking going on.
Sorry bud... if anything, it's the other way around. :R
Either troll or sour grapes?

To make you feel better, some of us in here are towing a fiver with a 5.5" bed.
I've used this setup for 5 years now. Regular slider hitch. See sig.

RE: Its here 1/2 ton Shootout!

I always sort of considered the F-150 to be a pickup truck for somebody who didn't really need a pickup truck.
bumpy :p
That would explain why it was the best selling vehicle (before the fuel crunch came around).
When a car or van doesn't cut it... but how about the el camino?
This is why you see more F150s on construction sites. Although the Tundra's presence is now more noticeable.

RE: 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 gets rave reviews.

Silverado has allways been the lighter fluid for Dodges 2nd hand torch. Dodge will allways suck hind tit to Chevy.
You might be trolling but I tend to think that you posted this based on jealousy... :R

RE: Its here 1/2 ton Shootout!

Great engine in the new Chevy; too bad it requires Premium Fuel.
Ford also has a BOSS 6.2L "hurricane" V8. They've had it for years now and currently used in the F150 Raptor version.
I suspect fuel economy is what's holding back it's presence.
I guess Ford does not put power high on the priority list.
Don't forget, it's a very fragile times for all manufacturers...

RE: Newbie needing Advice; Chevy, Dodge or Ford Diesel??

Ask yourself how often do you tow and how often in mountains.
6600lbs loaded is not much but if you do upgrade, diesel is king for pulling.
Any Ford, GM or Dodge will do, test drive them and then buy the Ford SuperDuty. ;)

RE: GM 8.1L V8 vs. Ford 6.8L V10

As already said, both are great engines, and this subject will always bring up lots of opinions on both sides.
If you're talking '05 or newer pickup, the V10 wins in both the power AND fuel mileage department, but they are very close. Prior to '05, the 8.1 V8 had the power advantage, but the V10 always did slightly better in the fuel mileage department (although they both use a lotta gas, no matter how you slice it, haha). As Engineer said, 'bout 14 is best you can expect from an 8.1 powered truck. V10 will get 'bout 16, I can get that pretty easily with our Excursion on long highway trips.
I say, drive each one, go with whichever one YOU like best, that you can get the best deal on. Either one will meet your needs well.
To the OP... Willald here said it all. You can't really go wrong with either but my vote is the Ford Triton V10 of course. ;)

RE: Popular Mechanics: 2009 half-ton comparo & 2009 F-150 Report

Of course the Ford was dated. It was in all likelyhood a 2008 model, not the 2009 model.
The Ram Challenge was a professional operation run by a marketing company. I don't think they would make a mistake like that.
MM49
How many 2009 F150's have you seen running around? Ford delayed the release. I highly doubt they coughed up a tester for Dodge to use. That same professional marketing company is paid to make the Ram look good.
MM49... TROLL !!!:R
